Highlands Country Club
As the oldest and most established country club in the Highlands area, Highlands Country Club is steeped in tradition. Set foot on the links of its 18-hole championship golf course and come to the realization that you are teeing off where the legendary golfer Bobby Jones once played. Designed during the Golden Era of Golf by golf course architect Donald Ross, the course is believed to be one of the most challenging along the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. Amenities included with Club membership consist of an elegant clubhouse with a pro shop and 19th Hole Grill overlooking the course, two Har-Tru tennis courts and a heated pool. Located within Highlands city limits, Highlands Country Club is within walking distance of the quaint shops and restaurants that line the highly popular Main Street district.
Highlands Falls Country Club
As suggested by its name, nature plays a central role at Highlands Falls Country Club. In fact, the Club's moniker is derived from a magnificent waterfall that is the highlight of the 15th hole on the club's 18-hole golf course. Designed by golf course architect Joe Lee, the course and waterfall have been featured in Golf Digest, Golf Course Management and Carolinas Green Magazine. The cascade feeds into the Cullasaja River, which winds throughout most of the property providing for a lush landscape throughout the Country Club. Tucked behind an elegant gated entryway, the course, amenities and surrounding neighborhood rest on nearly 550 acres of beautiful natural landscape.
Amenities include an active community tennis program on any one of four Har-Tru courts, large heated swimming pool, fully equipped fitness center with a staff of personal trainers and massage therapists, six ponds stocked with bass and trout for year round fishing, and gourmet dining (courtesy of the Executive Chef) and dancing at the Clubhouse. The neighborhood is made up of approximately 350 classic mountain home sites and is located just two miles from the upscale shopping and dining establishments of downtown Highlands.
An intimate enclave of just 30 home sites, Lake Osseroga is located in the midst of the Nantahala National Forest between the historic mountain towns of Cashiers and Highlands. This gated, lakefront community is perched at 4,100 feet above sea level and bordered on either side by Wildcat Cliffs Country Club and Cullasaja Club. A great deal of care has been given to preserving the natural beauty of this heavily wooded community, and each home is designed to complement the scenery that surrounds it. At the heart of the community lies the lake, with plenty of opportunities for fly fishing for trout and smallmouth bass, and a lakefront boathouse perfect for neighborhood picnics and special family gatherings. Other water features that can be found in the Lake Osseroga community include streams and waterfalls surrounded by a sea of native wildflowers. This community is an ideal fit for nature lovers craving the peace and quiet of upscale mountain living.
Lake Sequoyah – the largest body of water in the Highlands area – was formed in 1927 when a dam was constructed on the Cullasaja River. Today, lovely lakefront homes and vintage cottages line her shores. The historic Highlands Country Club borders a portion of Lake Sequoyah, and Highlands' famed On the Veranda restaurant (originally a speakeasy built in 1937) offers amazing cuisine along with incredible views of this tranquil lake. The dam at Lake Sequoyah forms a stunning waterfall, offering a picturesque setting for any family picnic. A handful of home sites are still available at Lake Sequoyah.
Wildcat Cliffs Country Club
