North Carolina native Ken Taft joined Silver Creek Real Estate Group in November 2021 as the first Broker-In-Charge of the company’s Highlands office. He brings to Silver Creek a solid background in real estate, corporate management, leadership, and quality customer service.

Before settling in Highlands, Ken lived most of his life in Charlotte, where he began his real estate career. After migrating to the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau in 2013, he built upon his real estate success by growing his loyal client base, deepening his knowledge of the Plateau, serving in a leadership role at a firm and helping expand its market reach.  

Before real estate, Taft worked in the corporate sector, first with a frozen food distributor, eventually serving as General Manager of the Carolinas after 16 years. Next, he managed customer service and communications at American Studios, which was acquired by P.C.A. International, where Ken added warehousing, shipping and receiving, and facilities to his areas of responsibility. Ken is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a dual degree in business administration and management.

Ken’s service to the Plateau community is extensive. He is a past president of the Highlands-Cashiers Board of Realtors, and previously served on the Highlands Playhouse Board of Directors and the Highlands Food and Wine Committee. Currently, Ken serves on the board of the Sherwood Forest Homeowners Association.

When he’s not working, Ken spends time with his three champion Portuguese Water Dogs and new puppy in training. He participates in water sport competitions with his dogs and is active in the Movers and Shakers Portuguese Water Dog Club and the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America. He also enjoys hiking and biking on the Plateau.
