Asheville Regional Airport Increases its Flights
According to a recent report in Ashevilles Citizen Times, Asheville Regional Airport will be adding two nonstop daily flights between Asheville, North Carolina and Chicago, Illinois beginning December 17, 2009. The flights, courtesy of United Airlines, will be on a 50-passenger regional jet, departing Asheville at 6:30 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. and returning from Chicagos OHare International airport at 2:10 p.m. and 7 p.m.

In recent years, Asheville Regional Airport has learned that Chicago typically ranks second or third as a destination from Asheville even though there has never before been a non-stop flight between the two cities. This move should aid in easing the traffic flow and travel experience for commercial travelers from Asheville and surrounding towns to the Midwest and back. Hopes are high that this direct flight will also add to the appeal of Western North Carolina as a vacation destination for Northern and Mid-Western travelers.
