Join The Bascom for an artist talk with Jugtown Potter, Travis Owens. This event is free and open to the public. “I grew up looking at and making pots, that’s what my family has done for generations. I work with local clays and make pieces that reflect the process. Essentially, a good pot has a definite, simple shape, a continuing line, and a glaze that suits the pot’s character; that’s what I work for with every piece.” - Travis Owens
Meander in May

This free, self-guided event in downtown Highlands is hosted by the Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Visit Highlands, NC. It brings live musical performances, artists, craftspeople, and exciting demonstrations across the town. Throw on your most comfortable walking shoes and get to meandering through the displays of talent. From jewelry making, painting, and woodworking to photography, plein air painting, and more, there will be artists and musicians all over town. End the day with some live musical entertainment at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park at 6 pm.
Highlands Mountain Garden Club’s Spring Plant Sale
May 27th from 9am to 12 pm
Highlands Baseball Field
Come support the Highlands Mountain Garden Club’s annual fundraiser and pick out some beautiful plants for your yard. There will be dahlias, ferns, hostas, native plants, shade plants and sun plants available. This popular event raises money for student scholarships.
Highlands Volunteer Fair

Join The Bascom for this free public reception. Into the Wood explores the aesthetic and technical breakthroughs of three generations of artist-woodturners who have created a new language of self-expression through form, material, and process. Curated by Marilyn Laufer and Tom Butler, the exhibition focuses on works made from native wood.

The Bascom’s signature annual fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, June 20th. Join them for Summer Salon at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn for an experiential evening featuring a unique silent auction, live music by the Mark Miller Band, and a seated dinner amidst lush florals designed by Kirk Moore of Oakleaf Flower and Garden. Mountaintop Art and Crafts Show

Hosted by the Highlands Mountaintop Rotary, this series of shows brings artisans from across the region together for live music, demonstrations, food, and family fun in the beautiful mountains.
