Wade Hampton Golf Club tops Golf Digest list

Golf Digest magazine just published their annual list of top golf courses in the country. They list the top 100 private and public courses as judged by a panel of 900 men and women. Each course was rated on seven different criteria on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being absolutely perfect). The seven criteria and Wade Hampton's ratings areshot value (8.12), resistance to scoring (8.01), design variety (8.16), memorability (8.31), aesthetics (8.62), conditioning (8.26), and ambiance (8.45), for a total score of 66.05. This ranking positions Wade Hampton Golf Club as number 17 of the top 100 private courses in the country. A tribute to a lasting course design by Tom Fazio, the dedication of the members, and the natural beauty of Cashiers, NC. Congratulations!

A little snow for Easter week

Light snow in WNC

Light snow in WNC

This past weekend felt like spring was in the air with temperatures in the low 70's. It was perfect weather to be out on the golf course, hiking or working in the yard. Then, a day later, we had some flurries. Just when it looks like spring has really arrived, one more quick snowfall always seems to sneak in and surprise us.

By mid week, we should be back in the 60's during the day and it should be a great Easter weekend to spend in the greater Cashiers and Highlands area.

Calculating revenue stamps on NC real estate transactions

Have you ever wondered how to calculate the revenue stamps (excise tax) on the sale of real estate in North Carolina? The tax rate is $2 per $1,000 of the sales price. So if you purchase a home or land for $900,000, the revenue tax would be $900,000 divided by 1,000 and multiplied by 2, which equals $1,800.

I hope this clarifies howto calculate the revenue stamps on the sale of property in North Carolina. Incidentally, this tax has not been raised since 1991.
